Georgia Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm whether someone is in custody or has been released, provide or remove a booking photo, post bond, or obtain an official record. For those answers or services, contact the government office that keeps the record.
Find the Georgia Records Custodian
Georgia has no single statewide sheriff or jail records office for county bookings. Each arrest belongs to the agency and county that handled it, so the right contact depends on where the arrest took place and what record is needed. The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. ยงยง 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, applies to covered public records, subject to legal exemptions. The Attorney General's request guide advises sending a written request to the proper custodian. That gives the agency a clear record of what is sought and a way to explain a denial or redaction.
- County booking, custody, or booking photo: Use the County Directory to select the county where the arrest occurred. Follow that county's instructions to the actual sheriff or jail records custodian. Local posting rules vary, and the Attorney General explains when Georgia law restricts an agency's use of booking photographs.
- Booking record or arrest report: The statewide records overview explains which office may hold each record and how to frame a request. Send the request to the agency that created or keeps the document, not to this site.
- Court case or disposition: Contact the clerk for the court that handled the case. Georgia Courts E-Access is a starting point for online court-record access, but court coverage and online records can vary.
- State-prison record: Send a records request through the Georgia Department of Corrections Open Records process. The GDC offender search is for locating offender profiles; it is not the request portal for prison records.
- Federal custody: The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator and ICE detainee locator cover different federal custody systems. They are locator tools, not public booking-photo galleries.
A request can be limited or denied under an exemption, including rules for pending law-enforcement matters and booking photographs. If an agency withholds material, ask it to identify the legal basis and the office that is the correct custodian. This private site cannot make that decision, search agency files, or confirm the status of a request.
